About the club

About CYCC

A parent-driven, coach-led youth cricket club giving young players in Greater Cincinnati a real pathway from their first delivery to competitive cricket.

Our story

Why CYCC exists

Cricket is growing quickly across the United States, but for most families in Cincinnati the question has always been the same: where can my child actually learn to play? Adult league cricket is thriving here. Structured youth cricket was missing.

CYCC was formed by a group of local cricket parents to close that gap. Rather than informal weekend knockabouts, we set out to build something closer to how youth sport works everywhere else in America: age-group teams, qualified coaching, a published schedule, real fixtures, and a season that means something.

The club is run entirely by volunteer parents. Coaches coach. Parents handle registration, logistics, equipment, grounds, scoring and game-day operations. Membership money goes into the program, not into overhead.

Mission

What we are here to do

To give every young cricketer in Greater Cincinnati access to quality coaching, competitive cricket and a club environment that builds character, discipline and lifelong friendships.

Vision

Where we are going

To become the region’s leading youth cricket program: a club that regularly produces players for high school, senior club, state and national pathways, and that makes cricket a normal part of growing up in Cincinnati.

Player development philosophy

Beginner. Development. Competitive.

Players do not all arrive at the same point, and they do not all progress at the same speed. CYCC runs three overlapping stages so every child is challenged without being overwhelmed.

Stage 1

Beginner

Learning the game. Grip, stance, basic bowling action, catching, the laws of cricket, and above all enjoying it. No prior experience needed.

Stage 2

Development

Repeatable technique, shot selection, bowling in areas, fielding positions, running between wickets, and the fitness base to play a full match.

Stage 3

Competitive

Match tactics, role clarity, pressure situations, performance review and preparation for league, tournament and representative cricket.

Who runs the club

Leadership
& volunteers

CYCC is run entirely by parent volunteers — coaching, scheduling, fixtures, equipment, match days and everything in between. Named roles will be published here once the committee confirms them. If you would like to take one on, we would be glad to hear from you.

Code of conduct

How we play

  • Players respect coaches, teammates, opponents and officials. Cricket is played hard and fair.
  • Parents support from the boundary, encourage every child on the field, and leave coaching to the coaches.
  • Coaches give every registered player meaningful participation, feedback and development time.
  • Everyone arrives on time, in correct kit, ready to train. Absences are communicated in advance.
  • No tolerance for bullying, discrimination, abusive language or unsafe behaviour, on or off the field.

Player welfare

Safety first

  • Protective equipment is mandatory. Helmets with faceguards for all batting and close fielding, plus pads, gloves and abdominal guard.
  • Hard ball safety is taught explicitly, with age-appropriate ball types for younger groups.
  • Bowling workload follows recognised junior over limits to protect growing bodies.
  • Heat, hydration and weather policies apply to every session. Sessions are cancelled when conditions are unsafe.
  • Supervision requires a minimum of two adults at every session, and parents provide emergency contact and medical information at registration.
  • Player privacy matters. We publish photos only with parent consent and never publish a child’s date of birth, address, phone number or email on this website.
